The "inspirational" story of three youthful teenagers...

Reporter: On the 17th of June 2008, three students of Garden International School came...

Ok, I won't be that boring... My name is Gordon and I have just completed my eight days of work experience with Aerospace Education Services Sdn Bhd along with my fellow school mates, Andrew and Basil. Work experience is an eight day program organized by our school, Garden International School Kuala Lumpur, in which each student of year 11 (local school form 5) works in a company for a period of eight days, with no restrictions to the choice of company (it can even be overseas). All three of us chose Aerospace Education Services, knowing fully well that we will most probably gain an excellent experience due to the uniqueness of the company. I have been tasked with sharing a little bit about the amazing experience that I've had over here...

And no, it's not an advertising ploy or anything, and we weren't forced to this. Really. We don't even get a cent for the work we do here anyway (we are here on work EXPERIENCE...what do you expect???).

I would first like to point out that working at AES is no walk in the park. Days can be tiring, of which one can expect non-stop "action". Dealing with people you don't know is also another obstacle in one's working life. Any working adult will tell you that dealing with people is probably one of the greatest challenges in the working life due to the complexity of humans.

Nevertheless, the AES offers a flexible working environment, where one is given the freedom of choosing how to approach a task as long as deadlines are met and work is of a high quality. Most tasks are in fact filled with fun and boring is a word that one will rarely, if not never, come across. One of the reasons why this is the case is that tasks are very rarely repeated. Every job given to us is unique and not only does this eliminate the concern of tedious work, but it offers each one of us a new challenge each time.

We would all like to express our immense appreciation to Sam Gibbs and every member of the Aerospace Education Services for helping us gain an invaluable working experience, of which has impacted us and taken us a footstep into the working world.

Congratulations, Sam! You're now officially both an uncle as well as a dad of Octet!!!!

Just a few days ago, Sam became an uncle when a niece was born. His responsibility, however, does not stop there. Octet has become a blessing to him as he now takes responsibility for it. He only received the babies a couple of weeks ago and he was determined to devote his entire morning to his babies (Guess who’s their God father - Advance Micro Devices) and this is their gate keeper.

How could any of you resist the sight of these cool devices? You'd better pay us a visit in order to get your hands on these awesome devices!

Just another day…… (Please la Tambi, it's CREATE...What are you expecting?!)

CREATE started off as another ordinary day with Sam, the boss, sipping some hot, enlightening tea while keeping a close eye on the office boys - Farid, Farquar and Shah - who were carrying out their job. An awkward expression was found on his face when two of his fellow workers, Gangez and Mike, came in late. There, situated beside him, was a lovely angel, Marilyn, glancing at the schedule to find out what to do next. Time passed very quickly, with the workers preparing to go home when all of a sudden...

Sam received an urgent message. Sam yelled, “Everybody, this is not a drill. Battle mode everyone!!!” Sam jumped into the “Cicak caves", and proceeded straight into the mission control room, along with his loyal side kick, "Lava boy". Cicak Man then ordered Lava Boy to “release your power so doom can prevail”. After Lava boy showed off his power in flight, he lit the rocket with the name of “Bumblebee", to stop the ragging hot planet from hitting Earth”.

And once again, the world is saved and Sam can eat chocolates alongside some refreshing tea for breakfast. As for the Lava Shah boy, he never takes breakfast because his shift is at noon.

At the end of the day, the moral to be learnt is that it is tough work in the Aerospace Education Services,

But boredom is something one will never encounter.

August was a fast moving, hectic month for us, of which work began to get very active and vibrant for us. I recently found out about this blog from my boss, and i was thinking that since the night is young why don't I entertain myself by writing a few words for this blog of ours whilst simultaneously fulfilling the need to update the blog! Killing two birds with the same stone ain't such a bad idea after all!

A lot has happened over the past few days, which explains why I've never gone insane out of boredom (Except when Shah and I went to Shazz for "Nasi Kandar", and i was too tired from work to even keep my eye lids open).

Shah is the Operations Manager around here and he can informally be classified as the second person in charge of AES. He's even good at shooting the boss out of the skies (Sorry Sam, no offense yeah?!). We've also got Marilyn (the sole eve around here), who is the company 's accountant. Mike, the handsome guy (who is already taken - I'll try to update his relationship status when there's a change), and Ganges are in charge of the sales department of our campany. Last but not least, Farquar Azman and I (Farid) are still probational workers but Sam has told us not to worry because have been doing fine in our jobs. Our Bombastic Boss is none other than Mr Sam who has recently become an Uncle now with James, his brother, becoming a father - many congratulations to the two of you!

I hope that all of you readers now have a brief image on the background of the Aerospace Education Services' family. Somewhere along the line, I will elaborate in further detail to all of you about us and what we do here both individually and as a whole.

Its time to blog again and do some updating of the site.

We welcome new members who would like to discuss topics relevant to our efforts to discuss the many fascinating aspects of aerospace science.

At this time we are busy preparing for some exciting programs for the end of the year and also for next year. I am happy to announce that we will be doing our first live webconference with NASA at the end of this month. On November the 27th we will be taking a group of members and friends to the newly opened Malaysia Space Science Center in Banting to view the facilities and conduct a live conference with NASA engineers who will be presenting on the International Space Station. I am looking forward to starting what I hope will be a ongoing program of live webcasts with NASA conducted a regular intervals during the year.
In addition we will have the opportunity to view the MSSC facilities and learn about the fascinating work being done there.

Details of the trip will be posted on the forum.

We were very profiled to be able to conduct a workshop for the Nestle Neslac group under the National Association of Gifted Children.
130 participants were thrilled by the displays and demonstrations provided on the day. Of particular not was Sazalis new model helicopter that he flew for our participants. It is truly an awesome machine and really wowed the crowd. I included some pics of the day in this blog.

Now that the year is drawing to a close we are able to reflect on the many wonderful events and activities we have provided. Even more importantly is the prospect of next years activities. Of particular note is the upcoming mission to the International Space Station for the Malaysian Astronaut. It is my intention to follow this event at all stages and try to get as many people as possible involved.
Also a major event will be the Malaysian International Aerospace 2007 to be held at Subang between the months of June through to August. The exhibition will feature the Buran Space Shuttle. It will be brought in on the back of worlds largest aircraft the Antonov AN 255 (see picture).

Aerospace Education Services has continued to grow and demand for our services has increased rapidly. At this time we are in the process of negotiating a major deal with a partner company that will see our operation making a BIG change for the better. I will update the blog in a week or so hopefully with news of our new arrangement.
